The Penguins are getting some offensive reinforcements just in time for the playoffs. Coach Mike Sullivan announced Thursday that left-winger Jason Zucker will be back in the lineup Thursday against the Wild.
It's a fitting time to return for Zucker, considering the Wild are his former club.
"Zucks gonna play. I think Zuck is invaluable to our team," Sullivan said. "He is an important player for us and to have him back in our lineup makes us a better team in a variety of ways."
Earlier this month, Zucker got back on the ice for the first time since undergoing core muscle surgery in January. He was a full participant in practice Wednesday.
While Zucker isn't a cure-all, the feisty winger should provide a boost to the Penguins, who desperately need more scoring alongside Evgeni Malkin. Newly acquired forward Rickard Rakell has spent the last couple of games on Malkin's line.
Zucker has scored 21 goals in 84 regular-season games with the Penguins.
