
PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Kris Letang scored and had an assist in his first period back following missing time due to the death of his father and an injury.

Letang played his first game since December 28 and assisted on the Pens first goal by Rickard Rakell to cut a then Florida lead to 2-1. After a goal from Danton Heinen tied the game, Heinen scored on a rebound off a Ryan Poehling shot, Letang tied it.
The 36-year-old deflected/redirected a shot-pass from defensive partner Brian Dumoulin to give the Pens the lead at 18:14 of the first period. Heinen had the other assist.
Florida tied the game with 41 seconds left in the first period as late fill-in Casey DeSmith came out to play a puck as Carter Verhaeghe was charging, the Florida forward got his stick on it first and put it past DeSmith for a 3-3 tie after one.
The Pens lost four of six heading into Tuesday’s game and the Panthers were playing a third game in four days.
