NHL to pause season as of Dec. 22 through Dec. 25, Pens next to games postponed

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – With so many games being postponed due to outbreaks of COVID-19, the NHL has decided to pause the season and start the Christmas break early.

Teams will now be off from Wednesday, Dec. 22 through Saturday, Dec. 25. Teams will be back for testing and practices after 2 p.m. EST on Sunday, Dec. 26, which is a day earlier that originally planned.

The Penguins game against the New Jersey was postponed on Monday due to a COVID outbreak among the Devils. The Pens Thursday game against the Philadelphia Flyers is also postponed

Games will resume on Monday, Dec. 27, as the Sabres are scheduled to host the New York Islanders.
