Penguins and Pirates fans are in store for some big, noticeable changes at future home games.
Both the Buccos and the Pens are getting new and improved scoreboards. PPG Paints currently has the third smallest scoreboard at all NHL arenas, and it's original to the venue.

Team officials say it’s time for an upgrade and the Sports & Exhibition Authority agrees, so they've approved $6.8 million.
The Penguins will chip in another 3 to 4 million dollars to the renovation. SEA Chairman, Senator Wayne Fontana says it's a worthwhile investment.
“Their opinion is that it will make a difference to the fan; the fan will want to come and want to stay, and that experience will result in enhancing your fan base,” explained Fontana.
The Pirates will also get a new scoreboard at PNC Park, the SEA has authorized $3.2 million for theirs.
The Pirates will introduce a new $1 surcharge on ticket prices to cover about 2 million dollars of the project. Both scoreboards will reportedly be installed sometime next year.
