Penguins hope to get multiple players back in lineup Sunday in Washington

PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) A good majority of the Pittsburgh Penguins are in Ottawa Saturday as they get set to face off against the Senators.

Back in Pittsburgh skating is a large raft of Penguins all set to be taken off the NHL's COVID protocol list.


Those players are Sidney Crosby, Brian Dumoulin, and Chad Ruhwedel; Tristan Jarry is still in Pittsburgh but that's a gamely move by the coaching staff as the Pens play in back-to-back days.

The plan is for that group of players to meet the rest of the team in Washington on Sunday when they play the Capitals.

The Penguins face off against the Senators on Saturday who themselves are having issues within the locker room regarding COVID-19.

A large number of players, including former Penguins goalie Matt Murray, are currently on the NHL's protocol list.

The Penguins hope to have head coach Mike Sullivan back behind the bench on Sunday as he nears clearing COVID protocol.
