PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Signed as a free agent and out since October with a lower-body injury, Pens announce defenseman Caleb Jones has been suspended 20 games for using performance enhancing drugs.

“Throughout the process, Caleb has been forthcoming with the organization as to how he believes the positive test occurred,” said Pens President of Hockey Operations and GM Kyle Dubas. “Caleb takes full responsibility for his actions, despite him being unaware that what he consumed was a prohibited substance at the time.”

“The organization appreciates his transparency regarding this matter, and Caleb will follow all NHL and NHLPA protocols related to his suspension. Caleb has the full support of the Penguins organization, and we look forward to welcoming him back to the ice when he is cleared.”

The 28-year-old Jones was signed as a free agent in the offseason. In eight years, he has played 255 NHL games with 14 goals and 42 assists and a minus 35 plus/minus.

His best season was with the Blackhawks in 2022-23 with four goals and 12 assists in 73 games and averaged 19:13 of playing time.
