CRANBERRY TWP., PA (93.7 The Fan) – The Pens have made another trade after sending Jake Guentzel to Carolina. Not the same name recognition, defenseman Chad Ruhwedel sent to the Rangers for a fourth-round pick on Friday afternoon.
The 33-year-old played in 47 games this season with a goal and three assists. Ruhwedel played in 326 games in eight seasons with the Pens scoring 47 points (13 goals) and a minus 7 in plus/minus.
Pens head coach Mike Sullivan would often talk about Ruhwedel’s steadiness as his spot will likely be taken by John Ludvig, at least in the short term.
