PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – He was signed to a five-year, $26.875 million contract just a year ago. Now, the Pens have placed goalie Tristan Jarry on waivers.
The 29-year-old is 70th in the league in goals against average (3.31) and 66th in save percentage (.886) and the team has lost seven of its last eight games. Jarry’s last win was before Christmas having lost five straight.
In 12 of his starts, Jarry had a sub-.900 save percentage. In the last two games, he’s given up six goals in his last 34 shots.
Expect the team to call up goalie Joel Blomqvist from the AHL where he has a .912 save percentage and 2.93 goals against average. The 23-year-old, second-round pick played in eight games this season in the NHL with a 3-5 record, 3.60 goals against average and .904 save percentage.
