With those two blue-liners being activated back into the roster, the Penguins have re-assigned defensemen Juuso Riikola and Taylor Fedun to the AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Pettersson and Ruhwedel were placed on the NHL’s COVID protocol list following the game against the New Jersey Devils on Oct. 30.
Both defenders have played in eight games this season.
Pettersson has scored a goal and three assists through his eight games.
