PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – It was a broken wrist that limited 2021 first-round pick Henry Davis is 51 games in the minor leagues last year. After his 51st game in the majors this year, Davis is back on the injured list with a right-hand strain injury.
The catcher-turned-right fielder is hitless in his last four games and batting .158 for August after hitting .200 in July. Davis had a quick start to his career, he batted .317 in his first 11 games in June.
GM Ben Cherington said during his show on 93.7 The Fan and the Pirates Radio Network on Sunday he felt like Davis had some hard-hit balls recently that weren't rewarded. Also, the league is punching back against him and he's working hard to make the adjustments. Davis will now be out until at least early September.
