On Monday, the Pirates put starting pitcher Chad Kuhl on the COVID injured list.
But just like most positive cases of the virus, it affects the whole family.
Kuhl’s wife Amanda revealed on social media Wednesday that not only does he have COVID, their 4-month-old child Hudson has also tested positive for the virus. Amanda says she has test negative and is showing no symptoms.
“I have to wear a mask while feeding my 4 month old,” Kuhl said on Twitter. “I can’t immediately pick him up when he’s crying. I can’t kiss him. I can’t snuggle him. I have to awkwardly pass him off to his dad by laying him in a bassinet in the hall & walking away.”
While that must be incredibly hard for a new mother, she says there are some positives, he gets to spent a lot more time with his dad.
“But seriously, how messed up is this? I’m not looking to start a debate in my (direct messages),” added Kuhl. “I’m urging you to stop for one moment believing that your choice only (affects) you. That’s not the case with this virus. Wear a mask, wash your hands & go get vaccinated.”
In addition to dealing with COVID in her household, Amanda adds she is dealing with a non-COVID related medical emergency with another family member outside of Pittsburgh.
