It isn't much but for those hoping for a reunion between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Andrew McCutchen…a small ray of hope.
The "Talkin' Baseball" podcast part of the Jomboy network posted a video to Twitter on Sunday of McCutchen highlights and the caption, "The Reunion needs to happen @Pirates."
The current free agent McCutchen "liked" the video and that got the attention of those who have been hoping for a reunion.
While the video does show a couple highlights of his time in Philadelphia and one while with San Francisco, a majority of the clips show some of his biggest moments in Pittsburgh.
McCutchen's last season in Pittsburgh was 2017. The Pirates traded him to San Francisco for right-handed pitcher Kyle Crick and then prospect Bryan Reynolds, who is arguably the Pirates best player currently.
Reynolds has reportedly asked for a trade from Pittsburgh.
McCutchen played last season in Milwaukee, hitting .237 with 17 home runs and 69 RBI.
McCutchen still has a home in the Pittsburgh area and is always celebrated when he comes back to PNC Park as the member of another team.
At 36, it doesn't really make sense for him to come back to Pittsburgh, with his chances of winning a World Series dwindling, the Pirates are still in a rebuilding phase.
But maybe McCutchen is happy where he is and just want to be closer to his home.
Or maybe he just liked a video that showed some of his biggest highlights and it doesn't mean anything.
