PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – A Montour High School graduate was part of the day two picks by the Pirates to conclude the 2025 MLB Draft. GM Ben Cherington took some chances drafting a couple of high school pitchers committed to big-time programs.
11th round
INF, Dylan Palmer (21, 5’9”, 170 pounds, Hofstra University)
The lefty-hitter has the fourth highest average in Hofstra history (.386) and is the career leader in triples (12). Hit .400 in 2025 with seven triples and 32 stolen bases.
12th round
RHP, Cameron Keshock (21, 6’7”, 225 pounds, Samford University)
A transfer from Auburn, Keshock was 5-4 in 15 appearances, his only season at Samford in 2025. The threw 77 innings with 33 walks and 74 strikeouts hitting 18 batters with 9 wild pitches. He’s known for an above average sinker and ranked in February as the top prospect in the Southern Conference.

RHP, Dylan Mathiesen (21, 5’10”, 195 pounds, Liberty University)
The Montour HS graduate started at California University of Pennsylvania and transferred to Liberty after his freshman year. In his second season with the Flames in 2025, went 2-4, 5.07 ERA, 17 starts, 65.2IP, 31BB, 84K, 1.41 WHIP
14th round
RHP Connor Hamilton (19, 6’4”, 205 pounds, Montgomery Bell Academy, TN)
Threw 96 mph at a college showcase and has committed to play at Vanderbilt. Originally from Toronto, Hamilton was the captain of his high school team with 72 strikeouts in 45 innings.
15th round
RHP Moody McLane (18, 6’7”, 210 pounds, Northside HS, AR)
Committed to Arkansas, already throwing in the mid-90s before starting his college career.
16th round
OF Eddie King, Jr (22, 6’2”, 220 pounds, Louisville)
A .367 average for the right-handed hitter in 2025 with 19 doubles, 17 home runs, 141 total bases, .750 slugging and 1.185 OPS. He was the MVP of the NCAA Tournament Louisville Regional and on the College World Series All-Tournament Team.
17th round
OF Carter Gwost (17, 6’3”, 215 pounds, Little Falls HS, MN)
Committed to the University of Nebraska where he expects to be an outfielder first and then work on pitching. The left-handed hitter and pitcher was the Minnesota HS 3A Player of the Year and competed in the state’s home run derby tournament and was seen as a late riser.
18th round
OF, Canon Reeder (22, 6’, 188 pounds, Oregon State)
In 55 games in 2025, the right-handed hitter batted .293 with 11 doubles, 8 home runs, 36 RBI. Over 107 games in college he hit .281 with a .390 on-base percentage and .835 OPS.
19th round
OF, Brandon Cain (21, 6’, 175 pounds, University of Oklahoma)
Played only one year in Division 1 and started two of his 21 games this season with five runs scored. Hit .359 his final season as an infielder/outfielder at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
20th round
LHP, Nick Frusco (18, 6’4”, 208 pounds, Miller Place HS, NY)
Passed on because he was committed to Clemson, the Pirates rolled the dice on a left-handed starter that needs more velocity on his fastball, but it has great life according to mlb.com.
