Pirates 'assessing' potential changes after CDC's COVID update

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) — The Pirates revealed Thursday that there are plans to begin discussing potential responses to the CDC's updated guidelines for masks and social distancing.

Brian Warecki, a Pirates spokesperson, announced by way of WPXI Sports Reporter Jenna Harner that the organization is "currently assessing" the COVID-19 mitigation changes that have now been adopted through the commonwealth.

The loosening of the mask-wearing and social distancing for fully vaccinated individuals was handed down by the CDC earlier Thursday and was automatically reflected through Pennsylvania.

Warecki stated that there are no official announcements as of yet to make regarding PNC Park but that deliberation is underway for the assessment.

Warecki's complete statement (tweeted by Harner) reads as follows: "We are currently assessing this afternoon's announcement by the CDC and PA Department of Health. We will announce any resulting impacts to the current protocols at PNC Park as soon as they are determined."

So there aren't any changes to PNC Park's protocol at this point, but there might be some in the future based on Warecki's comments.
