The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted a top 100 ranked player in the 14th round in outfielder Braylon Bishop out of Arkansas High School, but he may have already made up his mind to stick with his commitment to the University of Arkansas.
Bishop is ranked 94th in the MLB Pipeline and is 88th on Baseball America’s list.
But Bishop tweeted out shortly after the announcement saying “see you soon @RazorbackBSB.” With two rolling laughing emoji.
That tweet has since deleted.
After that Bishop sent tweet a thanking the Pirates.
It's not clear why he deleted the tweet, Was he upset he was drafted by the Pirates, or maybe more likely, upset he wasn't taken until the 14th round.
With his high upside and power potential, it looks like the Pirates will have to have plenty of slot money left from the earlier rounds if they are going to coax him away from Arkansas.
If that are able to sign Bishop, it would be an absolute win for Ben Cherington.
