The 4 p.m. MLB trade deadline came and went but the Pirates are still making deals.

The Pirates have acquired two right-handed pitchers Ricky DeVito and Bryse Wilson from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for closer Richard Rodriguez.

The Pirates also moved left-handed pitcher Austin Davis to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for infielder/outfielder Michael Chavis.

The 31-year-old Rodriguez is 4-2 this season with a 2.82 ERA and 14 saves. Davis is 0-1 with a 5.59 ERA in 9.2 innings.

Let’s take a quick look at who the Pirates got

DeVito:

A nearly 23-year old who was drafted by the Braves in the 8th round of the 2019 draft. He played for the Rome Braves (Atlanta’s High-A affiliate) with a 0-3 record in five starts with an ERA of 2.66. He is currently on the 7-day injured list.

Wilson:

A 23-year-old drafted in the 4th round of the 2016 MLB Draft. Wilson has made seven starts for the Braves in 2021 and has gone 2-3 with an ERA of 4.83. Pirates General Manager Ben Cherington says Wilson will be activated and available for Saturday’s game.

Chavis:

25-year-old first and second baseman/leftfielder who was taken by the Red Sox in the 1st round pick of the 2014 (drafted by Ben Cherington). “The Ice Horse” is currently batting .190 with 15 hits in 79 at bats. He has two home runs and six RBI this season. He hit 18 home runs in 95 games his rookie year in 2019 but stuck out 127 times. This season he’s struck out 32 times and have walked once.
