The Pirates made a couple transactions on Tuesday before their second game in a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Right-handed relief pitcher Yohan Ramirez, who was designated for assignment on September 1 was been claimed by the Chicago White Sox.
Outfielder Cal Mitchell was also DFA’d on September 1. He cleared waivers and was sent to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Ramirez was 1-0 with the Pirates this season, posting a 3.67 ERA.
He appeared in 26 games, giving up 34 hits and 14 walks over 34.1 innings pitched.
He hit 10 batters and had three pitches.
Mitchell has played in two games this season for Pittsburgh with no hits, one strike out and one walk in five plate appearances.
