The Pirates have made several moves ahead of this weekend’s series against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
The Pirates have recalled lefty reliver Evan Sisk and righty reliever Colin Holderman from Triple-A Indianapolis.
The 28-year-old Sisk was traded to Pittsburgh as part of the deal that sent starting pitcher Bailey Falter to Kansas City.
Sisk made five appearances for the Royals this season, posting a 1.69 ERA over 5.1 innings pitched. He had 11 strikeouts and gave up 1 earned run.
At Triple-A Omaha, he had a 3.77 ERA over 28.2 innings, giving up 12 earned runs with 36 strikeouts over 31 appearances.
Holderman returns to the Pirates after he as sent to Triple-A on July 7.
He is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA over 14 games this season in Pittsburgh.
To make room on the roster, right-handed pitcher Cam Sanders was optioned to Triple-A after posting a 9.00 ERA over five games.
And, lefty reliever Ryan Borucki was designated for assignment.
He posted a 1-3 record with the Pirates and a 5.28 ERA over 35 games with the Pirates this year.
