According to a report from ESPN, the Pirates and Konnor Griffin have come to an agreement that will keep baseball’s top prospect in Pittsburgh for a long time.

Buster Olney is reporting the Pirates are signing Griffin to a nine-year, $140 million deal.

The deal would be the biggest contract in Pirates history, by far.

Bryan Reynold signed a $100 million contract a few years ago.

It was announced earlier Thursday that Griffin will make his MLB debut on Thursday for the Home Opener at PNC Park when the Pirates host the Baltimore Orioles at 4:12 p.m.

According to Olney, the deal is still being finalized.

In order for the Pirates to get a comp draft pick, Griffin will need to play a game in the MLB before signing his deal.

Griffin will reportedly wear #6 when he takes the field. He will also be the first teenage position player since Juan Soto eight years ago.
