PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – The Pirates were counting on Justin Lawrence being a key piece of their bullpen in 2026, the first couple months of the season he was more a hinderance than help and was designated for assignment. Monday, the Bucs traded Lawrence to the team they just went 3-0 against last weekend.




Pirates GM Ben Cherington getting cash considerations from the Twins for the 31-year-old right-hander.

In his first season with the Pirates in 2025, Lawrence had a 0.51 ERA in 17 appearances with 23 strikeouts in 17 innings, an 0.96 WHIP and .153 batting average against before being lost to the season with right elbow inflammation.

This year Lawrence was 0-2 with a 5.32 ERA with 12 walks, 25 strikeouts and four home runs allowed in 22 innings.
