Big Ben, Steelers focusing on how good Garrett is not last season

Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers are more concerned about this season’s Myles Garrett, compared to the one that was kicked out the league after hitting backup QB Mason Rudolph in the head with his own helmet last year.

On Tuesday, head coach Mike Tomlin said there won’t be any carryover from the incident when the Steelers take on the Browns at Heinz Field on Sunday.

“We are not looking for that low-hanging fruit or that reality TV storylines.  This is a big game in 2020.”

On Wednesday, the Steelers starting quarterback didn’t even get into it.

“What is the magic in Coach Tomlin that he’s able to tell the team we’re just not going to think about what happened last year and everyone buys into it?”, asked NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkabwala.

“He must read a book of magic if you’re calling him magic.
Maybe we’ll call him “the magic man,’ responded Roethlisberger.

Roethlisberger says he’s focused on the play of Garrett so far.

“You know; he is a generational-type football player. He’s really, really good. He’s a guy that we have to know where he is, and we’re going to have to have multiple guys blocking him because he is a gamechanger.
He is that good.”

While the Steelers are not biting on any questions about their thoughts on Garrett, only focusing on his outstanding play so far this season, it’s hard to believe there isn’t any bad blood between the two parties.

Garrett gave Rudolph a concussion with the vicious hit and has said multiple times that he used a racial slur against him and that is what set him off.

Several of Rudolph’s teammates game to his defense along with coach Tomlin who vehemently defended his backup QB.

But even with that in the back of their mind, the Steelers are focusing on a 4-1 Browns team that could be one of the most talented Cleveland squads in over 15 years.
