Our own Ron Cook had the chance to go one-on-one with Ron Cook recently for the Post-Gazette. Roethlisberger talked about a large range of topics that appeared in the piece.

But not everything made it to print.

Speaking on The Cook & Joe Show Friday after the article was published. Cook said he believes that Roethlisberger would’ve returned for 2022 if former General Manager Kevin Colbert and Head Coach Mike Tomlin wanted to.

"I think he would have come back," said Cook.

Roethlisberger told Cook that Colbert didn’t want him back for the 2021 season and Tomlin was a “little” ready move on. He adds the only one that wanted him back 100 percent was owner Art Rooney II.

Roethlisberger also told Cook that he still believes he can play, adding he doesn’t think he played poorly last year.

Another topic that didn’t make it to print was the topic of Antonio Brown. Roethlisberger believes that he and the troubled wide receiver could’ve maybe been the greatest duo in history.

"We were already trending that way as it was, with the last 4 or 5 years we had,” Roethlisberger told Cook.

Also during the conversation, while he didn’t mention him by name, Cook believes that he was talking about Brown when he mentioned how players today seem to be more concerned about themselves over the team.

“It turned from a team-first to a me-type attitude,” Roethlisberger told Cook in the P-G. “It was hard. It’s hard for these young guys, too. Social media.”
