Shaquille O’Neal, Lawrence Taylor and former Steelers linebacker the late Kevin Greene, are just some of the pro athletes that found a life after football in the wrestling ring.
Could Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger be the next?
Probably not, but it's fun to think about.
Talking on Barstool Sports wrestling legend and WWE executive Triple H (Paul Levesque) was asked if he things “Big Ben” could hack it in the squared-circle.
“Ben’s tough, dude, he’s one of those guys that’s played some seasons pretty banged up and keeps rolling,” said Trips.
“The King of Kings” adds he and Roethlisberger are friends and recalled the time Roethlisberger and his offensive line came to Monday Night Raw.
Triple H says he isn’t really a big football fan and their friendship is more about regular life and not football or wrestling.
“At a time in his life where he was trying to figure out how to stop being “Big Ben”, I think and get down to real life and not have to be this image anymore and get married have kids and change who he was and all that we kinda bonded around a lot of that stuff,” said Triple H. “We have a cool relationship, we don’t talk all the time but every now and then we get on the phone together.”
With Ben’s history of injuries including elbow surgery and pounding on his knees it’s not likely he would have a long run as a WWE Superstar.
But with his memorable appearance on Raw, maybe he’ll be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Heck, Pete Rose is in the WWE Hall of Fame so why not Ben.
