It’s been a celebration of Ben Roethlisberger and his career as he likely winds down his career and played his final home game at Heinz Field yesterday.

All of Heinz Field chanted “thank you Ben” and former and current teammates sang his praises, but leave it up to Colin Cowherd to throw a wet blanket on the celebration.
“What a wasted talent,” said Cowherd on Tuesday. “He didn’t play as smart, he took too many hits, why would he worry about that he was the biggest guy in high school, the biggest guy in college and the biggest guy in the NFL, why protect yourself?”
Cowherd says that Roethlisberger wasted his natural gifts and that if he would’ve had a normal body, would’ve peaked “four or five years out of high school, doesn’t invest much, parties too much and at 65 you look up and all the great years are in the rearview mirror.”
Cowherd admits that Roethlisberger is a sure fire Hall of Famer, but never adapted and relied too much on his deep ball.
With a bigger and more naturally gifted body compared to Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, Cowherd wonders what could’ve been if Roethlisberger would’ve done more work.
At 37, Rodgers is likely going to be MVP for the second straight year and 44-year-old Brady is projected to win another Super Bowl before his career is over, while Roethlisberger is hanging it up.
