PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – A force for the run-stop on the Steelers defense, rookie tackle Derrick Harmon said he’s optimistic about playing Monday night against the Dolphins.

Harmon said before the first practice of the week that he’s trying to take it day-by-day, but admits he’s getting impatient to return after being out the last couple of weeks.

“For me, it’s tough because I haven’t been the type of guy that gets injured a lot and then I come to the NFL and it happens twice in my rookie year,” Harmon said. “It’s kinda hard, but it’s part of the game. I got to stay optimistic and stay the course.”

It’s the second different injury to the same knee and says he’s staying positive. He said after the first injury, which caused him to miss the first two weeks, he wasn’t. It affected him, but he’s learning how to handle it.

“Just being in the building, showing up to meetings and still preparing like I’m playing the game,” Harmon said.

It is a stark difference when Harmon is a part of the defense, the rushing defense allows 96 more yards when he’s not on the field and Miami is one of the best running offenses in the AFC.

“I try not to look into that, when I’m playing the game I try to play my best ball and help the team win,” Harmon said.

As Mike Tomlin often says in these situations ‘practice will be our guide’ and he will be an injury worth watching as the week continues.
