PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – In the last 15 months the Steelers have transformed their wide receiver room, adding 6’4” DK Metcalf as a free agent, then a month ago the trade for 6’4” Michael Pittman. Now a visit from 6’4”, 210-pound University of Washington receiver Denzel Boston Tuesday on the South Side.
It appears the Steelers have a type.
Understandable, outside of Jaylen Waddle, the top 10 receivers in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus are all 6’ or taller. This could be a room that while they share a size, could fill different roles. Pittman does his best work inside. While an outside and deep threat, Metcalf can play in the slot. Boston exceled in college at man-to-man situations and is elite at contested catches knowing how to use his size.
A knock against Boston is that he didn’t run at his Pro Day or the NFL Combine, so there isn’t a number to go with a 40-time. It’s said his tape looks fast. Against playoff teams, three receptions for 26 yards against Ohio State and four for 25 yards against Oregon. Third-team All-Big 10 with 62 receptions for 881 yards and 11 touchdowns (9th in FBS).

Most mock drafts have Boston in the first round and as Pittman said when joining the Steelers, it’s still a room that needs pieces.
DL-Darrell Jackson, Junior
- Had a good NFL Combine, a day two or day three defensive lineman. A team captain and defensive team MVP at Florida State last year, Jackson has been All-ACC Honorable Mention the last two seasons. At 6’5”, 315 pounds, had 45 tackles, three tackles for loss and a sack against his former school, Miami. NFL.com lists him as raw, but can be a disruptive presence in the middle with work.
LB-Jaden Dugger
- Penn Hills graduate who started his career at Georgetown. He is 6’5”, 250 pounds and put up some impressive tackle numbers, 125 on the season, 13 TFL, four sacks, a forced fumble and an interception. In 2025 he had a pair of 16 tackle (10 solo) games (against Southern Miss and Louisiana-Monroe). He had six double-digit tackle games including against Rice, at Missouri and at James Madison.
