First year Steelers center Kendrick Green had a rough rookie season.

The 3rd round pick out of Illinois, Green got knocked back consistently on the offensive line in 2021.

Fans were calling for Green to be moved to guard and let J.C. Hassenauer take over at center, which he did fairly well the last three games of the season.

Even quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said it will be best for Green if he moves to guard, but Hall of Fame offensive lineman and Pitt legend Jimbo Covert tells the PM Team it's not that easy.

"I'm going to have to disagree with Ben, I think it's easier to play center than it is to play guard, you get help on every play," Covert said. "If you think about it wouldn't it be easy . . . to play center."

Covert says that the best thing the Steelers can do for the line is to get a strong left guard and right guard and fill in from there.

"The only guy I've ever seen be able to block people by himself consistently is Dwight Stephenson . . . Hall of Famer, I haven't seen anybody other than that," said Covert.

Pro Football Focus gave Green a 52.4 grade for the season.

Green did play nearly 25 games at guard before moving to center in college.
