When it comes to the defensive tackle position in the NFL, a lot of people will say the top guy is Aaron Donald and then you have everyone else.
If that’s how you feel, Steelers Defensive Captain Cam Heyward has some words for you.
Heyward recently said on the Mina Kimes Show he believes he deserves to be in the discussion with Donald.
Heyward added he believes he is “the most completely player” at his position.
“I know Aaron is a really talented guy, but don’t just shy away and say it’s Aaron Donald and everybody else,” said Heyward. “Sh*t, it’s Cam and Aaron and everybody else.”
Donald, a Pitt standout and three-time Defensive Player of the Year, had 12.5 sacks last season with 84 total tackles, four passes defended, four forced fumbles and 25 quarterback hits last season for the Super Bowl Champion Rams.
Heyward, an Ohio State product, in his 11th season had 10 sacks, one interception one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, nine passes defended 89 total tackles and 17 quarterback hits.
While Donald’s future remains uncertain, saying he is “at peace” with his career, if he doesn’t get a new deal with the Rams, Heyward tells Kimes he believes he can play for at least another five years.
