PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Joey Porter, Junior again didn’t go through a full practice, neither did the Falcons starting QB on Thursday.
With starting quarterback Michael Penix likely to be inactive, Tua Tagovailoa was named the Atlanta starter on Monday, but Tua was limited in practice on Thursday with an oblique injury. It doesn’t mean he won’t play, but third-stringer Cooper Rush took the first-team reps on Thursday.
The 33-year-old Rush is the only right-handed quarterback on the Falcons active roster and played 33 games (14 starts) with Mike McCarthy in Dallas. He is 9-7 in his career as a starter completing 61.1% of his passes for 3,766 yards, 20 touchdowns, 14 interceptions.
Corner Joey Porter, Junior was limited in his Steelers work on Wednesday and limited again during a full padded practice Thursday at the UPMC Rooney complex on the South Side. Porter, Junior is dealing with a back issue and declined an interview request after practice.
McCarthy said before the workout that Porter, Junior was still going through the ramp-up stage for an injured player to return. Wednesday, he said the padded practice was a big step for Porter, Junior, but no apparent progress even though he went through more individual drills on Thursday compared to Wednesday.
No other Steelers listed with an injury.
