PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – The oldest team in the AFC, what the Steelers are doing this year is going for broke in 2025 per a long-time NFL reporter.
NFL Network’s Judy Battista started covering the NFL in 1998 for the New York Times and had one of the best reporter relationships ever with late Steelers owner Dan Rooney. She, like fellow NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo, believed an extension was going to get done between the Steelers and Watt.
What is different is Battista says it’s been an offseason of blockbuster moves for the Steelers. It’s not usually where this organization makes waves. It’s been a headline after headline from moving on from Justin Fields and Russell Wilson to trading for DK Metcalf, signing Darius Slay, the saga with Aaron Rodgers, trading Minkah Fitzpatrick and now with Watt.
“It’s a very veteran, all-in kind of offseason,” Battista said on NFL Network’s The Insiders. “Now we got to see if it works. We’ve seen teams do this before where they push all of the chips in the middle of the table. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it does not.”
“It feels like the Steelers have been stuck in neutral. The Steelers spent the entire offseason making it clear they are making a Super Bowl push now. They are going all-in on 2025 in Pittsburgh.”
