
According to a report, Steelers wide receiver James Washington wants out of Pittsburgh.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Washington, "has approached the Steelers and requested a trade based on his limited playtime last season and so far this preseason, per source.”
The 25-year-old Washington, who was drafted in the 2nd round (60th overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft, had 30 receptions in 2020 for 392 yards in 16 games. He was targeted 56 times (24 times less compared to 2019) and had five touchdowns.
On Thursday, Washington had no catches and was targeted twice.
With JuJu Smith-Schuster, Chase Claypool and Diontae Johnson in the wide receiver’s room, Washington is 2nd on the Steelers depth chart at WR1 Behind Schuster.
On Thursday, free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant tweeted that any team should want to trade for Washington.
Washington is on the last year of his rookie deal and will become an unrestricted free agent in 2022.
He is set to make over $1 million this season.
