According to multiple sources, former Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson is heading back to the AFC North, to play for a Steelers rival.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter, and other insiders, say the Carolina Panthers are trading Johnson and a sixth-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens for a 2025 fifth-round draft pick.
Johnson was taken the Steelers in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, spending his first five seasons in Pittsburgh before he was traded to Carolina for cornerback Donte Jackson and a pick in last year’s draft.
The Steelers used that pick to get defensive tackle Logan Lee out of Iowa.
Lee has been on the injured list since early September.
Johnson has 30 catches through seven starts this season for 357 yards and three touchdowns.
The Steelers trading Johnson drew some criticism, especially as the season started with the team needing a solid #2 receiver.
Reacting to the news, the PM Team had different opinions on Johnson joining the Ravens.
Chris Mueller believes the move bolsters the Ravens offense, but Andrew Fillipponi says Baltimore’s defensive issues are great for him to be concerned about Johnson on offense.
