LATROBE, PA (93.7 The Fan) – The Steelers added three to their Hall of Honor, three who all played in the 2000s. Record-setting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, outside linebacker Joey Porter and All-Pro center Maurkice Pouncey.

OLB Joey Porter

The outside linebacker would play 122 games in black and gold finishing with 60 sacks and 75 tackles for loss. He wasn’t just a pass rusher, intercepting 10 passes with 18 forced fumbles. Porter was a three-time Pro Bowler and 2002 First-Team All-Pro. A member of the 2000 All-Decade NFL Team, Porter is described as the emotional leader of the group.

“The Super Bowl 40 run, it was something where Joey really put the team on his shoulders,” said Steelers President Art Rooney. “He led us through a long run at the end of the season.”

Rooney also described him as someone who understood the Steelers way.

Center Maurkice Pouncey

Following in a long line of outstanding centers, Pouncey was drafted 18th overall in 2010 starting in 134 games named All-Pro two times and nine times to the Pro Bowl. He blocked for four different 1,000-yard rushers. He is a member of the 2010 NFL All-Decade Team and a four-time team captain.

QB Ben Roethlisberger

The 2004 first-round pick played more games as a Pittsburgh Steeler than any other player owning almost all of the Steelers quarterback records and is Top 10 in the NFL in completions, yards and touchdowns. He is the only quarterback in NFL history to have back-to-back six touchdown games. The youngest starting QB to win his first Super Bowl, he would win two including an incredible pass to Santonio Holmes to finish a fourth quarter game-winning drive.

Rooney said Roethlisberger re-wrote the Steelers record book and had ‘just an incredible career’.
