A photo posted by Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt giving a “peace” sign has generated a lot of buzz.
It’s all speculation, (we are in a little bit of a down time for NFL news), but some NFL insider heavy hitters say that it isn’t nothing.
Adam Cowley and Dorin Dickerson reacted to the post on The Fan Morning Show Thursday morning. They guess it’s just Watt posting a picture.
“That’s my guess that T.J. Watt had a picture of him in a Steelers uniform and he put it out there, or he’s the world’s funniest fan,” said Crowley.
But then they started to change their minds.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport speculated on NFL Network that over his time he’s learned that when there is a post like this, “generally is it rarely nothing.”
Assuming that it is something, Rapoport guesses Watt is in a contract negotiation for a new deal with the Steelers and this is a way to push the team a bit.
“It is because contract negotiations are not going as well as anybody hoped,” Rapoport said on Good Morning Football.
Fan Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn speculates it could be Watt’s agent advising him to “put a little pressure” on the Steelers for a new contract.
93.7 The Fan Steelers insider Mark Kaboly said it doesn’t look like Watt’s post was “just by chance.”
Watt’s post could just be a picture and mean nothing, but there seems to be plenty of smoke around this IG story.
