PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – It was an area they didn’t address in the NFL Draft, the Steelers are inviting a receiver who stared in the XFL this year.

Former Eagles and Cardinals receiver Hakeem Butler will get to essentially try out during team off-season workouts which start later this month.

The Baltimore native was the Cardinals fourth-round pick out of Iowa State in 2019. He’s huge. Butler is 6’5”, 227 pounds and ran a 4.48 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.  In 10 games with the St. Louis Battlehawks, Butler had 51 catches for 599 yards and eight touchdowns. He’s only played in two NFL games, both with the Eagles in 2020 without a catch.

Butler was a Second-Team All-American his final season at Iowa State breaking the school receiving yards record with 1,318, averaged 22 yards-per-catch, had 10 catches of at least 40 yards and nine of his 60 catches were touchdowns.
