PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – With the last preseason game on Thursday, the Steelers made a roster move bringing in a veteran outside linebacker/defensive end.
28-year-old Kenny Willekes (6’3”, 264 pounds) was three-time All-Big 10 at Michigan State, including named the conference Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2018, after starting his career as a walk-on.
He dealt with an injury his first season with the Vikings and was placed on injured reserve before spending 2021 on the Minnesota practice squad. Injury derailed 2022 and he was waived by the Vikings in 2023. Willekes played in nine games for the Michigan Panthers of the UFL in 2024 with 21 tackles, four sacks and recovered a fumble.
