Steelers-Bills series notes in 4th ever playoff matchup

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – It will be the fourth straight time in their all-time series where the Steelers will travel to Buffalo to matchup at 1p on Sunday. This one is the first ever playoff matchup in New York.

The Bills finished the season 11-6, beating Miami 21-14 to win the AFC East. Going into December, Buffalo was only 6-6, but they haven’t lost since including a win at Kansas City, beating Dallas by 21 and now at Miami.

It’s a series the Steelers lead 17-12, but the Steelers have won only one of the last four meetings. The pair played four start seasons

·      2022, L, 38-3 at Buffalo-Josh Allen threw for 424 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 42 more yards. Kenny Pickett had a career-high 327 yards passing and George Pickens had six receptions for 83 yards.

·     2021, W, 23-16 at Buffalo-Miles Killebrew blocked a punt recovered for a TD. Najee Harris rushed for 45 yards. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 188 yards and a touchdown. Josh Allen threw for 270 yards. Minkah Fitzpatrick had 10 tackles, TJ Watt had two sacks and forced a fumble.

·      2020, L, 26-15 at Buffalo-Ben Roethlisberger threw two interceptions including a Pick 6. Josh Allen threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns with Stefon Diggs catching 10 passes for 130 yards and a TD

·      2019, L, 17-10 at Acrisure Stadium-Steelers had a 10-7 fourth quarter lead, Josh Allen had 139 yards with a TD and an interception. Duck Hodges threw for 202 yards, a TD and four interceptions-one to current Steeler Levi Wallace. John Brown had seven catches for 99 yards.

There have been three playoff games all in Pittsburgh

·      W, 40-21 in 1996-Steelers intercepted Jim Kelly three times and Bam Morris rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns.
Levon Kirkland, Carnell Lake and Jerry Olsavsky had interceptions.

·      L, 24-3 in 1993-Frank Reich threw two touchdowns and Neil O’Donnell threw two interceptions. James Lofton and Mitch Frerotte had TDs, Barry Foster rushed for 104 yards.

·      W, 32-14 in 1974-Franco Harris ran for 3 TD, Terry Bradshaw threw for 203 yards and ran for 48. Steelers held OJ Simpson to 49 yards rushing.
