PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – A fourth out of five picks on the offensive side for the Steelers in the 2022 NFL Draft and this one has a familiar name.

Steelers select Michigan State fullback Connor Heyward, the younger brother of Steelers defensive captain Cam Heyward.  He makes the fourth brother combination on the team-the Watts, Edmunds and Davis’ proceeded the now Heyward brother connection.

Heyward, 6’, 230-pounds, has played some tight end and could be used as a short-yardage back.  He started his career as a running back finishing with 825 career yards at Michigan State with five touchdowns rush and four receiving.  Last season at tight end, Heyward caught 35 passes for 326 yards and a pair of touchdowns.  He had five receptions against Pitt in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl, one for a touchdown.

It’s interesting TJ Watt’s brother, Derek, is also a fullback but will make $3.25 million this coming season.  Heyward will make much less.
