PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Losing Cam Sutton to the Lions, the Steelers did keep another corner. James Pierre gets a one-year contract coming off a three-year deal worth nearly $2.3 million.

The 26-year-old was an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic and has played in every game since he signed in 2020. That's 50 games with six starts and a pair of interceptions along with three forced fumbles and eight passes defended.

After seeming gaining momentum after playing a third of the defensive snaps in 2021, Pierre was never able to keep the traction gained and played in 24% of the snaps last year beaten out for time by Ahkello Witherspoon and Levi Wallace. He has the size at 6'2" and will get an opportunity to compete with Wallace and Witherspoon again for time opposite of Patrick Peterson.
