Steelers place Alualu on IR, Mondeaux takes spot on roster

The Steelers have officially placed defensive lineman Tyson Alualu on the Reserve/Injured List.

Coach Tomlin confirmed that Alualu suffered a fractured ankle shortly early on during the Steelers/Raiders game on Sunday.

Alualu also confirmed the surgery in an Instagram post.

Practice squad Defensive lineman Henry Mondeaux will take Alualu’s spot on the 53-man roster.

Mondeaux has played in 11 games for Pittsburgh last season with five total tackles and two quarterback pressures.

Alualu, who initially intended to sign with Jacksonville in the offseason, ended up re-signing with the Steelers.

Since signing with the Steelers as a free agent in 2017, Alualu has played in 64 games with 145 total tackles (five of them so far this season).
