Eagles make the key plays and dominate the 1st and 3rd quarters

PHILADELPHIA (93.7 The Fan) – The BIG plays from the Steelers 27-13 loss in Philadelphia. It included a number of Eagles chunk plays and third down mastery even as the Steelers put up a fight in the second quarter.

1st quarter
·     FG, following Steelers 3 and out, a 22-yard pass to Grant Calcaterra and 21-yards to DaVonta Smith got the Eagles into the red zone, but a TJ Watt run stop for no gain and Alex Highsmith stop for one yard forced a Jake Elliott 34 yarder (7 plays, 54 yards, 3:33), 3-0
·     TJ Watt forces a Jalen Hurts fumble on a 3rd down scramble recovered by Beanie Bishop, Russell Wilson would be sacked on 3rd and 10 forcing a punt
·     Mark Robinson forces a fumble on a Cooper DeJean punt return recovered by Nick Herbig
·     Wilson with 7-yard out to Najee Harris, Darnell Washington continued his block through the end zone for a personal foul, Calvin Austin also committed a personal foul from 2nd and 3 from the 4-yard line, now 2nd and 18 from the Eagles 19.
·     FG, after a pair of incomplete passes on 2nd and 3rd and long, Chris Boswell hit a 37-yard FG (4 plays, -8 yards, 0:31), 3-3
·     Chunk plays—Hurts to AJ Brown 16 yards and 20 yards, plus a 22-yard Saquon Barkley run
·     TD, Hurts 5-yard TD to AJ Brown (6 plays, 70 yards, 2:29), 10-3

·     More of the same as the Steelers start with a negative yardage drive and punt

·     Wilson 17 yards to Ben Skowronek, next play Justin Fields rushed for 8 yards and as he was sliding, was hit for a 15-yard personal foul by Reed Blankenship
·     TD, 3rd down conversions, Russell Wilson runs 3 yards on 3rd and 2, runs 2 yards on 3rd and 1 and converts 3rd and goal for 9-yard TD to Pat Freiermuth (11 plays, 70 yards, 6:33), 17-10
·     2 sacks by TJ Watt on next Eagles series including -12 yards on 3rd and 3 which pushed him past Hall of Famer Mark Gastineau for 44th place on the NFL all-time sack list
·     FG, after a sack, Wilson finds Calvin Austin for 12 yards on 3rd and 20 to make it a closer attempt, Boswell from 49 yards, 17-13

3rd quarter
·     FG, Elliott actually made it twice, the one that counted from 41 yards. Hurts had a 20-yard pass to Smith, but James Pierre with a nice open-field tackle on Smith on 3rd down to force the first FG attempt (personal foul for roughing the long snapper on Montravius Adams gave them a first down) and the second third-down attempt, Watt got pressure and Hurts had to throw it away. (13 plays, 47 yards, 7:08), 20-13
·     Wilson hit Austin for a 31 yards on a flea flicker, but Harris drops a pitch and recovered by the Eagles
·     Hurts finds Smith for 6 yards on 3rd and 5, Hurts runs up the middle untouched for 23 yards
·     3rd and 9, dump pass to Gainwell, miscommunication between Joey Porter and Patrick Queen allows him to gain 14 yards to the Steelers 1-yard line
THIRD QUARTER-Eagles 24 plays, Steelers 4

4th quarter
·     TD, Hurts 1-yard ‘tush push’ run (13 plays, 74 yards, 6:33), 27-13
·     Steelers gained 14 yards on 3rd and 22 and from the Eagles 47, they decide to punt down 14 points
·     Pinned down at the 3, Hurts finds Brown for 21 yards on 3rd and 6
·     2nd down and 6, multiple chances to get Hurts, he flips a pass to Barkley for 4 yards, instead of a negative play, it makes it 3rd and 2 which the Eagles convert on a 7-yard run by Barkley
