You can add the phrase “thirst trap” to Jim Colony’s extensive vocabulary.

Talking about the potential sale of the Pittsburgh Penguins to a group based in Boston, Post-Gazette Penguins beat writer Mike DeFebo was quelling any concerns fans have of the organization being moved.

DeFebo was pointing out that the Penguins have one of the highest Instagram followers in the NHL.

“Colony, I know you’re a big Instagram guy so I’m sure you already knew that, you’ve been liking the thirst traps on Instagram,” said DeFeb. Colony responded with “what?”

DeFebo explained what it was to Jim like this, “You go to the beach, you go down to Spring Training and then you post a photo of yourself on the beach in your swim trunks that would be a thirst trap.”

“So then what happens is other people are like ‘oh Jim’s looking good, he must’ve been doing crunches in the hotel or some pullups’ and then they give you the double tap Jim and then you get the ego boost of knowing people have been liking your photos,” added DeFebo.
