What, you thought the Rolling Stones vs. Beatles debate would just fade away with time?
Not so my friend, not so.
Paul McCartney was the subject of a lengthy profile from the New Yorker and chimed in with his thoughts on how The Beatles differed from The Rolling Stones. Mainly, The Beatles sound was more diverse than what the Stones had going.
“I’m not sure I should say it,” McCartney prefaced, “but they’re a blues cover band, that’s sort of what the Stones are.”
“I think our net was cast a bit wider than theirs.”

It’s not the first time McCartney has chimed in on his thoughts about The Rolling Stones in comparison to his band.
During an interview with Howard Stern last year, Stern suggested to McCartney that The Beatles were the better band of the two. “You know you’re going to persuade me to agree with that one,” McCartney said.
“They are rooted in the blues. When they are writing stuff, it has to do with the blues. We had a little more influences. … There’s a lot of differences, and I love the Stones, but I’m with you. The Beatles were better.”
As of writing, no one from The Rolling Stones has responded to McCartney’s comments. That’s with good reason though as they are currently out on tour and Mick Jagger looks like he’s having the time of his life by crashing bachelorette parties and going unnoticed at bars.
