More than one million fentanyl pills were seized in California in February, Gov.
Gavin Newsom announced on Tuesday.
Officials added that 592,933 pills and 348.51 lbs of powder were obtained at the ports of entry, while 1,030,728 pills and 1,095 lbs of powder were captured statewide.
“Our increased California National Guard deployment helped federal partners seize over half a million fentanyl pills at the southern border last month,” Gov.
Newsom said in a statement. “We’re doing our job, while Republicans in Congress drop the ball and block the bipartisan border security deal that would further crack down on fentanyl trafficking.”
The seizure was the result of California National Guard-supported operations.
