LOS ANGELES (KNX) – Three men found dead in a Los Angeles apartment Friday morning are believed to have died from a fentanyl overdose.

Around 1:15 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department received a call from the wife of one of the men asking for a welfare check because she was unable to reach her husband, according to Fox 11.
When officers arrived at the apartment on South Spring Street, all three men were found dead.
The men, who have yet to been identified publicly, are all believed to be in the 40s, officials said.
The department added that one of its responding officers was hospitalized for possible exposure to the substance.
“We believe that the officer received some sort of exposure to the drug after he responded to the welfare check," Officer Melissa Podany told City News Service.
The officer is in stable condition.
