The suspect was wanted for a shooting that occurred around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at a motel in the 300 block of North Brookhurst Street, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Officers from the Anaheim Police Department responded to a call regarding the shooting and a pursuit began, with the suspect leading officers on and off the Riverside (91) Freeway and onto streets in a white pickup.
The suspect drove on both the eastbound and westbound Riverside Freeway, as well as streets, during which he discarded an object from the vehicle, narrowly avoiding several other cars while trying to evade law enforcement.
While pursuing the suspect, officers executed multiple PIT maneuvers and even started to nudge the vehicle when it halted near the intersection of South State College Boulevard and East Westport Drive, just moments before the driver managed to flee.
Officers began chasing again, utilizing PIT maneuver tactics until they successfully subdued the suspect's vehicle near West Memory Lane and North Bristol near Santa Ana, Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Matt Sutter told The Times.
Police then executed another PIT maneuver over a bridge over the Santa Ana River and the truck bounced back into the road and struck a bridge divider before coming to rest on the bridge, according to The Times.
Officers then approached the truck and opened fire on the suspect at 8:38 p.m. Wednesday. Sutter told The Times that the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
ABC 7 reported a passenger in the truck was taken into custody by police.
The victim from the motel shooting was taken to a hospital in stable condition, The Times reported.
