Annual May Day Rally and March to support immigrants will return in downtown LA Saturday

The annual May Day Rally and March to support immigrants will return this year in downtown Los Angeles.

The event on May 1 last year was virtual because of the pandemic.

But this Saturday there will be a socially distanced march and car caravan that'll start at LA State Historic Park.

"We want to lift up the fact that we need immigration reform...the Congress, the President that there is an opportunity to make sure that essential workers, the folks that work in every service, in every industry, their rights are protected," says Polo Morales with the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights LA.

Morales tells KNX 1070 News he's more optimistic now that immigration reform can pass.

He also says people will march on Saturday to bring attention to racial violence and call for a stop to anti-Asian hate.
