In an exclusive with KNX News’ Craig Fiegener, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced she will endorse Vice President Kamala Harris to be the Democratic nominee.

“I am proud to endorse Vice President Harris to be the next President of the United States and call on all Democrats to join me in doing everything possible to help her win this election,” Bass wrote in a statement. “We must come together to defeat Donald Trump.”

Prior to her endorsement, Bass released a statement reacting to President Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 presidential election.

“Biden has been one of the most successful and consequential Presidents in American history,” she said. “I look forward to continuing to partner with him and Vice President Harris to deliver results for those whom we serve.”

In addition to Bass’ endorsement, Long Beach Congressman Robert Garcia announced his endorsement of Harris.

“As a Californian, as someone that I've known for a long time she has my full endorsement and support and we're gonna work hard every single day to make sure that she's the president," Garcia told KNX News' Craig Fiegener.

Congressman Adam Schiff, who is also running for the U.S. Senate, also announced his endorsement for Harris.

“Now it's time for all of us to unite behind Vice President Harris. I am excited to endorse her campaign for President - she has the judgment, experience, leadership, and tenacity to take on and defeat Donald Trump,” he wrote in a statement. “I worked with her when she was our Attorney General, Senator, and Vice President, and I can't wait to work with her as President. There is no better matchup than this superb former prosecutor against this convicted criminal, and she'll prosecute the case against Trump every single day.”

President Biden announced in a letter that he was dropping out of the race and endorsing Vice President Harris before the Democratic Convention kicks off in Chicago on Aug. 19.
