President Joe Biden has announced he has dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, ending his bid for reelection only 107 days before the election. Many Los Angeles Democrats think this is a positive move.
KNX News’ Emily Valdez spoke to Democrats around L.A. about their thoughts on Biden’s announcement and his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.
“I say good for him for having the guts to do the right thing for this country. He's been, he's done so many wonderful things for this country. I support that decision and I am 100% behind Kamala Harris. I think she'll be an excellent next president for this country and bring us into the next generation,” Erin, a Democrat in L.A., said.
She said although Biden has never been a great presenter, he has great ideas and has been effective with those ideas. Erin believes Biden has done a great job of getting the country back in order after “four years of going in a very negative and hostile direction.”
Michael, another Democrat in L.A.,said he thinks Biden made a good decision; however, he doesn’t believe Harris has proved herself.
“She doesn't have a lot of accomplishment. I would say, you know, she was asked to go to the border, but that didn't work so well. She never went to the border,” he said.
Michael said Biden will get more respect out of this than anything else he’s done.

“I am proud to endorse Vice President Harris to be the next President of the United States and call on all Democrats to join me in doing everything possible to help her win this election,” Bass wrote in a statement. “We must come together to defeat Donald Trump.”
