Sheriff's deputies on patrol in the area of Lakewood Boulevard and South Street at about 9:50 a.m. Tuesday spotted the black Toyota Prius that was reported carjacked and attempted to pull it over, Sgt. M. Murawski of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told City News Service.
The suspects took off with the deputies in pursuit until they abandoned the car a short while later near the Petco store at Lakewood Boulevard and Candlewood Street, Murawski said.
The suspects fled on foot but were detained nearby, he said. No injuries were reported.
The age of the male suspects was not immediately available.
